Has anyone else felt like they’re controlled BY their schedule rather than being IN control of their schedule? A healthy morning routine is so important for creating a positive mindset for the day and helping you feel like you’re in control. It enables you to prioritize your mental wellbeing and reduce your stress levels which will help to reduce signs of ageing on your skin. One simple step to a positive day is writing down one thing you are grateful for when you wake up. Whilst it might seem cheesy, you can clear your mind, focus on the positive and enables better decision making. A morning routine is very specific to each person but below are a few tips that can help you develop a routine that works for YOU.
HEALTHY MORNING ROUTINE HABITS
Listen to your alarm… as much as you don’t want to! Use the 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 method: when you open your eyes count down from 5 and when you finish you have to stand up out of bed. This is probably the hardest part of the morning but it is so worth it because it gives you time to get everything done! If you fancy waking up naturally, check out this sunset alarm! Having a consistent sleep routine ensures you get enough sleep each night, reducing your cortisol levels. Cortisol is a stress hormone that is linked to inflammation. Consistent sleep is also linked to fewer wrinkles as your skin produces collagen when you sleep which helps to keep the skin supple.
Avoid your phone… scrolling through social media can seem like a great idea to slowly wake yourself up but before you know it, 20 minutes have gone by and now you are running late! So (and stick with us here) for the first 30 minutes of the morning, don’t touch your phone! We know, it sounds like a nightmare but taking the time to focus on yourself when you wake up actually creates a more focused mindset.
Fluid before food… make your go-to morning drink e.g., smoothie, tea, coffee, water and take some time to enjoy it! Make sure you drink plenty of water throughout the day! RYL TIP: Get a water bottle that has time markers down the side to keep track of your intake.

Exercise the body… nothing wakes you up more than a bit of morning exercise…no matter how small! Take a quick walk for 10 minutes around your local area or do a quick 20 minute sweaty workout to get your body ready for the day! Exercising in the morning releases endorphins which gives you a mental boost to start the day with!
Freshen up… after that sweaty workout, a shower is much needed to remove any dirt and refresh the skin. Try a quick 30-second cold blast at the end of your shower to wake yourself up.
Exercise the mind… take some time to note down what you want to do today to clear your mind and get organised! Creating clear goals for the day enables you to have a clearer focus and get rid of the dreaded brain fog. Plus, it means you don’t miss those all important meetings!

Music for the mind… create a morning feel-good playlist to listen to whilst you are getting ready for the day. A good playlist does wonders for creating a positive mindset, as well as making getting ready a little more fun!
